چکیده
Marine conservation sciences have traditionally been, and remain, non-diverse work environments with many barriers to justice, equity, diversity, inclusion (JEDI). These disproportionately affect entry of early career scientists practitioners limit the success marine professionals from under-represented, marginalized, overburdened groups. groups specifically include women, LGBTQ+, Black, Indigenous, people color (BIPOC). However, issues also arise global North/South East/West divide under-representation South East in science arena. Persisting inequities conservation, along a lack inclusiveness opportunities for innovation, cross-cultural knowledge exchange, effective implementation management policies. As part its mandate increase diversity promote underrepresented groups, Diversity Inclusion committee Society Conservation Biology-Marine Section (SCB Marine) organized JEDI focus group at Sixth International Congress (IMCC6) which was held virtually. The included portion cohort IMCC6 attendees who identified affecting explored pathways address those issues. Therefore, here on pertinent participants’ regions experiences. Several just, equitable, diverse, inclusive practice were identified. Examples limited participation under-represented minorities (URM) research networks, editorial biases against URM, professional development engagement URM non-English speakers, sensory impaired individuals, financial all aspects research. In current policy brief, we explore these barriers, assess how they progress practice, seek identify initiatives improvements. We expect discussed advances practices rooted principles JEDI, within SCB and, broader community. recommendations perspectives herein broadly apply are critical sustainable outcomes.

Volume 17, Number 1 184 we really know about these organisms, and the difficulties in establishing terrariums with mating pairs. She does a good job of painting the picture of a novice starting an adventur...

We cannot take access to equitable out-of-school science learning for granted.
